Yura!! Welcome to Yana Marumba (Walk Good) – the Wynnum Fringe Opening Ceremony
Wynnum Fringe Festival acknowledges the original custodians of the land upon which we live, work, and tell stories. We acknowledge the Quandamooka People, and the thousands of years of culture, traditions, and connection to this area.
Yana Marumba – or Walk Good – is an integral part of Wynnum Fringe. It’s the opening of the festival, a chance for us all to come together and celebrate this beautiful place.
Join us at sunset along the stunning Winnam (Wynnum) foreshore as our Quandamooka delegation lead us in yana marumba.
This year as a special addition to yana marumba we welcome Janggaburru, a giant Elder puppet (Memetica) who will join us for the walk and sharing local knowledge and language with us.
We invite all Bayside locals to ‘Walk Good’ as a United community and hear the traditional connection to Country, set against the stunning Moreton Bay coastline.
An Indigenous Advisory Group for Wynnum Fringe led by First Nations Advisor Cameron Costello is continuing to guide us as we build our First Nations program for 2022.
