yana marumba – Opening Ceremony

Yura!! Welcome to yana marumba (‘Walk Good’ in Jandai language) – the 4th year of our Wynnum Fringe Opening Ceremony Tradition and the hero event of our theme for week one, PLACE.

This is a place for inclusion. An opportunity for our diverse community – and visitors – to walk along the shore of Moreton Bay and hear the traditional connection to Quandamooka Country told by Quandamooka People. It’s a chance for us to acknowledge the 25,000 years of history in our suburb and grow together as one.

Join us at sunset along the stunning foreshore as our Quandamooka delegation lead us in song, dance and yarns. This year, we will also be joined by traditional members from a few different cultural backgrounds, as well as our diverse range of performers. The perfect foundation for Fringe 23.

Free entry. All ages event.
